§ 6-206. Parking in areas reserved for the handicapped.

  • (a)

    Any motor vehicle parked in an area reserved for the handicapped shall have a special decal on the vehicle license plate or a parking certificate bearing the international wheelchair logo on the vehicle dashboard or bumper, which decal or certificate has been prepared by the state tax commission and issued to the applicant through the offices of the tax collectors of the counties, or which decal has been issued by an agency or branch of the United States military.

    (b)

    Any person parking a motor vehicle without a special decal on the vehicle license plate or a certificate on the vehicle dashboard or bumper in an area reserved for the handicapped shall be guilty of a misdemeanor and, upon conviction thereof, shall be fined not more than one hundred dollars ($100.00) for each such violation. For the third and subsequent offenses under this section, the offender's drivers license shall be suspended for ninety (90) days in accordance with Miss. Code Ann. 1972, Section 63-1-53 in addition to any fine imposed.
