Latest version.
  • The following words, terms and phrases, when used in this article, shall have the meanings ascribed to them in this section, except where the context clearly indicates a different meaning:

House trailer, mobile home or trailer shall mean a vehicle without power that must be towed by an automobile or truck having a power plant or any vehicle having its own power plant, and which house trailer, mobile home or trailer can be used as a dwelling unit by one (1) or more persons; and should a vehicle with or without its own power plant such as described hereinabove which is not now suited for the habitation of one (1) or more persons be altered in such manner that same would become habitable, then in such event, it would come within the definition of trailer or house trailer or mobile home as set forth and intended herein. No combination of one (1) or more of such units, nor any modification or alteration thereof, nor any attempt to convert such house trailers, mobile homes or trailers to permanent dwelling units shall prevent same from coming within this definition. Any questions as to whether or not such dwelling unit does come within the definition as set forth herein shall be decided by the building official of the city subject to the right of the interested parties to appeal such decision to proper governing bodies or authorities.

Trailer camp shall mean any premises where more than one (1) house trailer is parked for living or sleeping purposes or any premises used or hired out for the purpose of supplying to the public a parking space for more than one (1) house trailer used for living or sleeping purposes. In the event a trailer camp is located in the city, it shall contain a minimum of fifty thousand (50,000) square feet and shall constitute a business use of such land comparable to a public garage, and as such shall be located only as authorized in the zoning ordinance (Appendix A). No trailer units or mobile homes situated in a trailer park shall be located nearer than five (5) feet from the property line on the front, sides and rear of such property.
