§ 4-6. Reports of births, deaths, burial permits.

  • (a)

    Deaths. It shall be the duty of all physicians attending upon a person dying in the city, and if there be no attending physician, the duty shall be upon the head of the family of which the deceased was a member, or if the deceased be the head of the family, the duty shall be upon each and every adult member of the family, to report the death within twenty-four (24) hours to the health officer and furnish him with facts with respect to the deceased and the death which are required by law.

    (b)

    Births. It shall be the duty of the physician or midwife attending upon the birth of a child within the city to report all births to the health officer by 3:00 p.m. on Saturday of the week in which the birth shall occur.

    (c)

    Burial permits. It shall be the duty of every undertaker or other person upon preparing a body for burial and before the burial of same, to secure a permit from the health officer.
