Appendix B. FLOOD DAMAGE PREVENTION  

There came on for consideration at a duly constituted meeting of the City Council and Mayor of the City of Gulfport held on the 19 ^th day of December, 2017, the following Ordinance, which was reduced to writing and presented in advance of the meeting for reading and examination:

ORDINANCE NO. 2929

AN ORDINANCE TO AMEND THE CITY OF GULFPORT FLOOD DAMAGE PREVENTION ORDINANCE, AND FOR RELATED PURPOSES

WHEREAS , The City of Gulfport Flood Damage Prevention Ordinance was adopted to require FEMA Advisory Flood Hazard Data and Advisory Base Flood Elevation and other advisory requirements on September 5, 2006, effective as of November 1, 2006; and

WHEREAS , The City of Gulfport Flood Damage Prevention Ordinance was amended on January 29, 2008, effective as of January 30, 2008, to incorporate new FEMA Preliminary Flood Hazard Data for purposes of administering flood prevention regulation; and

WHEREAS , the Mississippi Emergency Management Agency has requested that The City of Gulfport Flood Damage Prevention Ordinance be updated, on or prior to December 20, 2017, to reflect changes to applicable regulations; and

WHEREAS , it is believed that amendment of the ordinance to reflect changes to the applicable regulations is in the best interest of the City of Gulfport.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF GULFPORT, MISSISSIPPI, AS FOLLOWS:

SECTION 1. That the matters and things set forth in the above preamble are hereby accepted as stated as the findings of the Gulfport City Council.

SECTION 2. That the Flood Damage Prevention Ordinance of the City of Gulfport, hereafter known as the City of Gulfport FLOOD DAMAGE PREVENTION ORDINANCE be, and it is hereby amended to read fully and in its entirety, as follows, to-wit:
